When considering “terrorists” and “terrorism,” the focus tends to be on violence—the threat of violence, its aftermath, ideology belief systems that lead it, so forth. Political however, represents only a portion repertoire collective action is available “terrorists.” Images from “dissident” Irish Republican events photo-elicitation interviews with activists who participated in these show that: (1) “violent” organizations includes nonviolent political activity; (2) organizational structures affective incentives sustain activism voluntary associations social movement also embrace physical force or “terrorism.” In combination, findings Republicans are likely persist into foreseeable future.
